Be prepared folks, that track will blow you away. Very 60ish feel with an Arabian touch. Big sounding!
Black jewelled serpent of sound
Dragging me deep under ground
Dragging me down where I drown in the sound
Drown in the sound of her eyes...

Oh, there is also a lot of other reasons to be excited over these reissues. But the cherry on the dukespie this time is this new song. As I mentioned, it´s big sounding. How Andy manage to squeeze out that kind of sounds from such a smal shed is stunning.

Can't wait to hear the extra tracks on both Dukes reissues. My Chips From The Chocolate Fireball CD is probably my most played disc over the last 20 years. The packaging will also be as stunning as ever. When can we pre-order, though? It says in the news section that fans can order from March 16, but there's still ne mention of it in the Shop section.

This new song reminds so much of the great psych-band The Electric Prunes and their record Underground from 1967. Can't recall Andy has ever mentioned them other than their song ¨I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night¨. But I guess he must have listened to the Underground album a lot. Cause there's also an instrumental melody part on one of the songs on it that is identical (and the chords too) to the melodically quite characteristic line ¨I don't dream of cakes and candies or to know where fairyland is...¨ on Andy’s ¨All I dream of is a friend¨.

While the Prunes are best know for "Dream", Underground was their true statement. Sadly, control was seized away and the next album, was a Prunes record in name only, interesting as it was.

Hi andro, there are promo copies available on ebay. (Yes you're right, I'm a XTC collector nerd).

If you got to the APE-shop and take a trip on the sleeve carousel can you hear snippets from all the tracks...

This track has me probably the most excited over all, it's amazing that with XTC incredible following new things are still popping up. You have to love this band just for sheer amount of amazing goodies they have hidden in their vaults and the fact that they share them with us from time to time. I've wondered about promos, but even being the fanboy I am at times I'm wating for the package deal.

I just wish it were longer and took off the way 25 O'Clock does about half way through (when you compare it to the demo.) It is a great tune.

Hi there Miles. I just checked my most played list in Itunes and number one is "Black Jewelled Serpent Of Sound", then comes 8 more XTC and Dukes tracks. Finally at place 9 is an other artist, Ligtherthief with "Falling Into The Future" and glorius voxals by Andy! I guess it say something about my habits and musictaste...

This track popped up on my ipod yesterday and I had to check who it was initially...I had obviously skipped through the new cd and it didn't register at the time but before I checked I was getting Keith Relf Yardbirds or Doors...great song...
