I love "Open A Can Of Human Beans" on the new 25 Oclock.
But what are the 60s influences on this tune?
Unlike the other Dukes tracks, it's really hard for me to tell.
Any ideas?

It is hard to pin down direct influences on this track, isn't it? For me parts are reminiscent of Traffic's 'Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush', and maybe Caravan's 'Golf Girl'?

The bit at the end is like The Who, I'd say - not much else, Else!

I hear I am the Walrus at the end. With a little hint of the Rutles' "Piggy in the Middle" (Chant: The best of the piggy is the roastbeef, the best of the piggy is the ham.)
btw: Dave Edmunds had a band called The Human Beans around 1967.
I must correct myself: I had made a remix in my head adding the "Yum Yum" over the end. So the Walrus can be found somewhere around the middle. (Oh dear, where do we put the piggies now?)

Nice to be hearing this song properly on the reissue. As for influences, I'm no musicologist, but to me it sounds like nothing more than Beatles in Revolver mode (maybe a bit later - I'm no Beatlephile either). Just a pure, clean slab of perfect pop.
