When one of the best songwriters since John & Paul Moptop asks "How does he do this?", I guess you're on to something. And I suppose it doesn't hurt that Mr. White has an incredibly haunting voice that induces spinal chills in all who are aware enough to listen. I don't envy his task of trying to surpass sublime tracks like "Way Too Long" and "Maryfaith Autumn" (to name only two of many), but he seems to be managing just fine. If this is indeed a collection of leftovers from the "Dog Eared Moonlight" sessions, then it's reminiscent of Crowded House's "Afterglow" in that it's far superior to most bands' "Best Of" collections. So the question bears repeating ... how DOES he do this? C'mon, Mr. Carwash, come clean!
