Bbc 6 Music Guest Request!, Andy, you are being head-hunted... Options

....I don't know if anyone else listens to BBC 6 Music show 'Adam Buxton's Big Mix Tape' on Sunday's (also available on iPlayer) but a listener suggested Mr Partridge for a future guest on the show. Basically, guests choose a few choice songs on a particular theme to include on a potential mix tape style compilation. Previous guests include Louie Theroux, most of Supergrass, Jon Ronson, the Boosh's Julian Barrett & director Garth Jennings. Adam said he'd love to have Andy on but thought that he was shy & might not do it. Adam regularly plays XTC tunes on his 6 Music shows so i would imagine would be very sympathetic.

what does anyone else think? Golden opportunity to plug some Ape artists especially with the BBC 6 Music listenership doubling recently, surely?

Andy is such a natural on radio any show would benefit from his inclusion....I'm surprised he never got offered the Humphrey Lyttleton chair on Im sorry I haven't got a clue.....As much as music has been his career I'd have loved him to do a show that's about words puns and just general humour he'd have been great on it!

Also I'm surprised he never got to do a late night psychedelic radio show for a month or so I think he'd have been in his element playing things that hadn't been out since John Peels perfumed garden.

Has anyone heard Andys interview with Mark Ellen for SFX in the mid 80's?

Now this is classic Andy....he gets bored with talking about Xtc and music in general and just goes off on a 10 minute burst of impersonations of various characters from the space patrol puppet series....one of my favourite things on my ipod !

Mix Tape is a good show - the one thing that was annoying about the regular Adam and Joe 6Music show was they didn't get to personally pick much of the music they played and were forced to stick largely to "the playlist" - so it's been good to hear a more eclectic mix of music.
I think it would be incredibly interesting to get Mr P and Dr Buckles together... they could do a Song Wars for one week only while Joe is poncing off around that Hollywood (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
