And...I'm broke. My 8 yr old son literally has more money in his piggy bank than I do in my back account. Not kidding.

You have to do what I do: gather together your paperwork and approach your son for a loan. He knows you're good for it, right?
(Oh, and stop by drugstore on the way to buy candy and stuff to smuggle into the circus. Those concession stands'll kill you! Sparkly things that light up are good to have on hand, too.) |

This would probably be good to smuggle into the circus in case it drags a little in the third act. |

Yeah, but I already owe both of them $20 apiece. My wife, fortunately, is paying for the circus tab. All true, btw. Unfortunately. |

I'm so ashamed of my porn. It';s the worst porn imaginabale. It's awful!
It's basically porn for women. Between this and being a loyal Sex And The City viewer, my Man-club card is pretty much revoked. This post has been edited by Chrestus: Jul 31 2011, 08:17 AM |

Is there such a thing as a circus donkey? Because, if there is, a minute ago I thought I saw a way to link this thread back to something to do with The Big Express.
Until you brought up porn, that is. Now I'm at a loss. |

I've been to the circus the last 4 years in a row and I don't remember seeing any donkeys.
But... "I think about your pale arms waving When I see the caps upon the green And the rocking roller coaster ocean I think about you every night when I'm fathoms asleep And in my dreams, we are rocking in a similar motion" Perv! |

Another great album! Such a wide ranging variety of sounds, from All You Pretty Girls to my favorite train song, Train Running Low on Soul Coal to This World Over. It might have been the first Xtc album that I heard new when it came out. In 1984,a very fun year for me, so good emotional baggage comes with it. I do find the production a little heavy handed, but that might have been an 80's thing. (I much prefer the demo version of Train Running Low on Soul Coal on Fuzzy Warbles.) Two of the three Colin songs are favorites among those Colin written , Wake Up & I Remember The Sun. It is just a very enjoyable album to listen to!

Congrats to chrestus for kicking my ass in this thread!
Do you mind if I don't spell "chrestus" with a capital C? It just doesn't seem right. Sometimes when I'm asked for spare change, I ask the gentleman if he takes credit cards. It just makes an uncomfortable conversation end sooner, for some reason. Wait, what were we talking about? This world over. I remember the sun. Trains running low on soul coal. Reigns of blows. All you pretty girls. Ah yes, it's this world over. Over and out. |

They're starting to walk around with iPhone card swipers. Wait 'till summer, Simp - you'll see. The trends start here.
Congrats to chrestus for kicking my ass in this thread! Kicks YOUR ass? To quote Andy Partridge quoting Josef Stalin: Quantity has a quality all its own. The music director for the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus told me that the admission price only pays the overhead: ALL of the profit is in the concessions, programs, etc. And the very first online disagreement and music theory discussion I ever had was praising "Shake You Donkey Up" on the Idea forum. Someone challenged me by saying come on, it's just a country song. I said right: the only country song you'll ever hear with a 13th chord in it. Then he asked what a 13th chord was. (Big mistake.) I said it's actually A9 on guitar, but Andy's voice on 'girl' slides from A up to F# - which is the 13th of a dominant 9th chord. See how beautifully I brought this back around?
