1. Had breakfast. Who ever came up with a microwavable stem-bag for an Egg/Saugase/Potato Scramble? Not so bad actually. Or I'm fooling myself... easy to make though.
2. My office park very recently opened a small gym for building employees and I used it for the first time. I am horribly out of shape. Only spent 15 minutes on an elliptical machine and according to the machine's meter my heart rate was around 130 for a good portion of it.
3. Bought new shoes. A year ago I realized my habit of buying shoes from bargain dealers wasn't doing my feet any favors, so I bought a pair of Rockports. I love them and they're still in pretty good shape, except they're sneakers and the flat sole is about worn down. It may be possible to resole them but I figured I might as well get a new pair. Another pair of Rockports. love em, and the saleslady (same person I got the last pair from) says this kind shouldn't wear out quickly.
4. Took a street home I've never taken before. I've tried but I swear the key section that I've tried to use has been under construction for 5 years straight. It's an interesting street. Where I started off on it is just about the trendiest, yuppie community in Milwaukee and the part that was forever closed was where a giant condo development was built up- then suddenly it switches to an old light industrial section. About five blocks of small manufacturing plants before turning back into a trendy gentrified neighborhood. After that, a section of road just about every other Milwaukean (and much of the Midwest) has made a pilgrimage to... but as I have no interest I have never had reason to even get close to the Miller Beer Plant. I do enjoy seeing these old brick factory buildings though actual working Beer company buildings, instead of the converted Blatz and Schlitz office buildings I have worked in. A nice touch you can see is a bottling conveyor belt that runs from one building to the next through a windowed corridor over the street. After the beer plant is an aging neighborhood of fine old houses that I'm sure the brewere bigwigs once coveted, it has seen better days but still isn't totally rundown. LIke the next section of the road, that strata of a city of seriously run down buildings waiting patiently for someone to care about it again. And maybe it makes sense this section ends up bookended by the central police station.
5. Spent too much time writing this message despite the fact that I'm still feeling the effect of my mini-workout and am absolutely exhausted. Good night.

You Brits don't say "Huzzah!" anymore? That's what we Yanks say when we're pretending to be 16th century English at Renaissance Faires.

Three words: Guinness on tap.

Funnily enough, we Brits say "Huzzah!" when we're pretending to be 16th century English too. And that's "fayres", Jeff like "Ye olde" and "shoppe"

Weekend:

1 Went to the seaside and experienced a small but painful typhoon. My wife was still digging sand out of her ears the following day.

2 Made a big breakfast for Mrs J and the #2 son (#2 daughter doesn't rise until 11.00am on weekends and usually stuffs Special K until dinner). Melon slices, egg, bacon, sausage, tomato, beans, black pudding and toast. Pretty much all the black pudding avoided consumption.

3 Went to see my son's football team play their last match of the season. Son can't play as he has a broken arm and the boys succumbed 3-2 to not particularly good opposition. Currently 7th in the division but, with some teams still having games to play, that could change.

4 Watched Final Score to see City win the league in injury time. Bastards.

5 Had dinner out with Mrs J's family as Ma and Pa had just returned from yet another holiday spending the inheritence. It was VV nice - ribs, chips and coleslaw for me with a couple of beers (San Miguel) and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Nom.

1-Woke up unusally early after a bad dream involving Ryan Giggs and erm not sure what
2-Had a walk into town via the backstreets to the TEsco which i try to avoid to get a microwave breakfast 'cause not only am I now living without a tv i'm living without a freezer!
3-Bought some bananas on way back from Iceland...so to speak
4-Made an inventory of all my irreplaceable/valuable/important possecions-

1 notebook containing the handwritten first draft of my zany radio comedy that won a Koestler prize. I’ve thrown all the rest of my handwritten writing away after typing it up on to word docs.
1 Laptop containing all my mp3s, photos and various other documents most specifically my novels (2 rough drafts of novels, short stories, zany comedy plays).
1*External hard-drive backing up the above kept at my parents house
3* Philip K Dick novels (Clans of the Alphane moon, Ubik & Flow my tears, the policeman said)
My beloved one and only ever copy of Spike Milligan’s Puckoon (my fav book)
A paperback copy of Spike Milligan and John Antrobus’ play The bedsitting room
2 paperback books of various illustrated (after a fashion) Goon show scripts
A copy of Ian McDonalds Beatles book Revolution in the head
A copy of James Joyce Ulysses. (I’m working up the courage to throw this away and giving up on it)
A copy of R.E.M’s Automatic for the people on C.D
A 7” vinyl copy of my fav Morrissey song-November spawned a monster
A small portable solar energy generator
A smart phone
An 8GB ipod video
Some wires and memory sticks and shit to do with my cyberlife
A large envelope containing important paperwork and shit
2 cups. 1 with Dark side of the moon artwork 1 with Revolver artwork

n.b
The only possession I’ve had that I regret throwing away was my vinyl copy of R.E.Ms Murmur which I threw away with the small selection on vinyl that I was keeping for posterity when my dad told me he wanted me out of the house and I off-loaded most of my possesions by throwing them in the bin inc. that.
5-Had my first suicidal thought since geting my new laptop. I was hoping that wouldn't happen for months...ever even!

1. I asked my boss a question at a meeting today which he didn't answer to my satisfaction. So I asked again and he didn't answer properly again. This went on for some considerable time. I'm now known as Jeremy Paxman.

2. My future job prospects declined somewhat today.

3. Picked my £30 winnings up from the bookies on my way home from work and resisted calling in the pub for a swift half a dozen.

4. Arrived home to find I had a letter about a hospital appointment that is on the same day as the work's Xmas meal. Result. The perfect excuse.

5. Watched United dispose of a side I have never heard of.

Tuesday:

1 Got up feeling incredibly tired and unwell. I had a cold last week, no it must be flu or newmoania or diptheria or something. It can't just have been a cold to make me feel this bad surely *sniff*?

2 Got the bus (ie wife's car) to the railway station and had to sit in the tiny middle seat (which I never normally do) because I was feeling so crap (the people on either side gave me so much more room once I started coughing and sneezing).

3 Lunchtime went to the First Aid room for a nap (to shake off this TB) but it was occupied by a bloody masseuse (I shit you not) that the company downstairs have hired to treat their sodding staff. Put my head on the desk instead but couldn't sleep for all the people coming in to "see if I was alright".

4 Walked to Blackfriars Bridge and got the boat to the O2 at Greenwich (nice way to travel) to meet #1 son, #2 daughter and her friend for food at Las Iguanos (had the steak which was OK but difficult to enjoy when you have bubonic plague).

5 Saw Radiohead. I quite like Radiohead so have to be careful to avoid hyperbole with them but that was THE BEST FUCKING GIG OF MY WHOLE LIFE. Forgot the smallpox for a couple of hours. Went to bed V late. Thanks Thom.

Field Music was great. In a 100 people venue. was just handing over my ticket when I got a tap on the shoulder - and it was peter brewis of Field music saying hello. having followed then round the country for 7 years, although I wouldnt say we were close friends, its nice to feel that the guys in your favourite band of the 21st centruy recognise you and stop for a chat. caught up on all the adventures they have had over tha last month , which was when I bumped into them in my local record store!. eating Pie and mash.

Support act was Warm Digits, who just did a small imrpovosed album with Field muic. When I say small, I mean 10 inch EP. Obvoiusly for some of you 10 inches is a dream come true but hey ho. They were one drummer, of great talent and a guitaist, key board, tapes guy. They were like kraftworrk meet georgio marodour ( not a typo have no idea how he spells his name). brillliant,

FM did an hour half set. covering all their albums and it was great. probably the best I have seen them. very intimate and I was right at the front so the band were about two feet from me. Only half way through the gig, did I twig the PA was actually about a foot behind me and I was listening to the gig pretty much from the second guitarits monitor. Losts of rock, harmonies, time changes and some good banter.

Afterwards had a chat with the other brother who kindly gave me a FM T Shirt and now recognises my daugher too - signing a poster and stuff for her.

From me and Jockey you see the extremes of modern music. two talented bands at diffrerent ends of the money making and mingling spectrums. But like Lj I had a great night. However, after a long chat about this and that, got told that after this tour they may knock it all on the head and get proper jobs. Living in travel lodges in exeter for next to no money maybe not as glamourous as it sounds!

catch them now, while you still can... ( bet you wish you hadnt asked now jeff )

Actually I'm very glad I did - great story! I love their music, too - which YOU turned me onto. Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I posted some sad Twitter banter for you on Facebook, but I may as well repost here, as it directly relates to your last line:

David @CaptainLimey
Okay music industry. It appears neither @grizzlybear nor @xtcfans nor @fieldmusicmusic can make a living out of you. What the flying fuck?

Field Music @fieldmusicmusic
@CaptainLimey @grizzlybear @xtcfans No, no, no - we can - it's just that it's a worse living than working part-time at minimum wage.

XTC @xtcfans (Andy Partridge)
@fieldmusicmusic @CaptainLimey @grizzlybear Stick with it,the 'long tail' helps.I make more now than when I was in my 20s and 30s,just

Who the hell is 'grizzlybear'?

* * * * * * *

Now, if Mr. Jockey of Lost cares to elaborate on HIS wonderful show (since I've got rid of that cough he must have given me)
we can vicariously experience both the intimate and humungous aspects of British Rock circa 2010's!
