Definitely a buyer on the basis of the tracks on Myspace. Providing I'm not skint when it comes out.

I agree, O great Northern One.
I can see why Andy has taken to the sounds....quite unusual, but structured and enjoyable, not terribly idiosyncratic but unusual nonetheless, and definitely not predictable or run-of-the-mill....I'm going to enjoy this one.

True, not terribly idiosyncratic . . . actually wonderfully idiosyncratic!

The album is a masterpiece, at least from what I've heard. ;-)

Ok, clue me up before I put my foot in my gob.
....is there some insider knowledge here? : )
By "terribly idiosyncratic" I mean that almost-indefinable kind of too-clever artifice that leaves me with what I can only describe as "ear-tiredness". The songs on Myspace seem to weave near-dissonances into a sudden harmony that's surprisingly addictive. I love stuff like that.

Your foot is just where it is supposed to be. The only insider knowledge that I have is that your concern about "ear-tiredness" will be unfounded. If you love the kind of sudden harmonies based on near-dissonances that her songs on myspace seem to weave, you will be head over heels in ecstasy with her album.

I have the inklings of a smidgen of a hint of a theory forming in my mead-soaked brain......
Andy Partridge has a particular female vocal timbre that catches his ear. Judee Sill, Veda Hille, and now Jen Olive seem to share a vocal quality I can only describe, in my ham-brained way, as "feminine purity".
There's a kind of clarity and warmth to their singing that seems to remind me of each; not that they are in any way similar in songwriting style or subject or even philosophies....but there's just some kind of tone that gets right into my warm bits and stirs me up ( no not in that way, Weasie!). Dunno. Perhaps I'm just a dumb old goat.
As you were.

Dumb goat or not Kelty I think you're spot on.

I just heard Warm Robot tonight! My God... it's beyond beautiful!
It kicks off with Boulevard, so you're in familiar territory, from then on in it's like strapping on a technicolor jet-pack - just absolutely jawdropping. There's so much going on musically and vocally... I swear there is even a comb and paper solo on one track... I'm just completely bowled over.

Bloody hell! I can´t wait to hear it. Andrew, can you phone me and sing some of the songs? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
