It´s the third one and it is packed with good, inventive, surprising music. Any fans of something beyond boring mainstream, and Andy Partridge, should be in heaven listening to it. "My Dream Sea" is once again a beuatiful melting between Andys and Jen Olives voices...

"Running with the Mothmen" is a also great in all it´s awkwardness and "Shining Surface" is the most poppy Lighterthief track so far. Great riff!

So come on and buy, listen and discuss:

I like the gothic overtones of track one and the ra ra red hiding hood demo style piano that appears. All built over a Groover armada style, umm... groove I guess. I think thats some jen Olive voals sneaking in.

What I ilke about Stuarts music, although it is clearly his music, it ranges across a whole range of styles, vibes, moods etc. Not stuck in one groove like many bands ( Status Quo spring to mind as an example).

Scared to listen to track 2 cos of that mask video. Keeps me awake at night!

I agree, Martin. Stu is very good on getting a whole range of styles under one umbrella. He still get that special Lighterthief fire burning.

Jen Olive have a truly amazing voice and it blends so well with Andys. I love this stuff. It deserves a lot more attention. Give it to your ears and minds, folks.

Bah, Barry Andrews is nothing to be afraid for. He is just a mothmen, not a madman! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Here's what I told Stuart about this one the other day:

Absolutely love it all of it, really haunting and raucous at the same time. It's beautifully polished stuff, filling the sonic spectrum without losing the sharp edges that make you HAVE to listen. Bravo.

I just saw the Little Audrey video of My Dream Sea (in the Podcast section) and it's almost creepy how perfect it is with the song. I've always loved the song and like Jen Olive's vocals almost more than on her own stuff. Sorry, but I had to gush about this somewhere! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'd like to second that gush. I just bought the digital download and I've been listening to My Dream Sea on a frenzied loop all week. I love the delightfully disjointed melody. Jen's rich vocals provide an isle of warmth in a seemingly nightmarish seascape. It is quite daring!

Upon first listen, it reminded me of a tune from an animated psychological drama I watched several years back. Both tunes caught my attention in much the same way. That fragmented swagger evokes uneasiness but you can't help but succumb to it.

Here's the link to that other tune, if anyone is curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8c66csuIrE

It was used only as background music so it's not nearly as polished and richly layered as My Dream Sea (The vocal sampling is in Thai, my second language, which is another reason why I took a liking to it). Anyway, I'm hoping My Dream Sea's hypnotic hold will dissipate soon so I could move on to tracks two and three! This is brilliant, Stuart. Thank you.
