I was at a music festival a few years back when my daughters were still "tinyish" and they got very excited because Jeremey Clarkson was there in the early quiet part of the festival . My daughters ran over to him and asked if they could take a picture with him. he looked at them and said, " Dont be Stupid" and walked off.

Well, you know Bimble, good bad and indifferent.
Busy to the brim some days and others wondering what the hell am I doing with myself.
Some days sober and some a bit squiffy.
At times i'm SO glad to be a professional musician and at others I feel what a waste of a good architect/therapist/draughtsman/teacher etc.
Some moments I am a young man cursed with an old man's body,at others,an old man wise with a young man's stupidity.

How's tricks with you?

Have you thought of writing a song about it? I've heard that can be therapeutic.

How was your Easter?

Hope yours was better than mine, Andy, which was awful.
"Jesus lives: Easter cancelled." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

You must have come to terms with tinnitus, as you haven't mentioned it of late.
It didn't seem to prevent you from enjoying the Beach Boys live, or from doing a magnificent job on the Gonwards mix.

Looking forward to The Clubmen!

Pretty much the same as you: some good, some bad, occasional hilarity. My father died in January, but that was ok as he was 89 and had been ill for a long time. My kids (12 and 14) are alternatively a joy and a thorough-going pain in the arse. Sometimes this alternates many times a day, but that's kids for you........

Yep, carrying on: things could be a lot worse. Ta-ra then!

An old tune with lyrics by one of Andy's (and my) heroes, "Yip" Harburg, hits the charts again after 75 years!

http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=801522

Maybe Andy has some thoughts on the passing of the Season of the Witch.

As I said elsewhere, we Yanks can't really comprehend how all this feels to you British.
Ronald Reagan is ancient history for us - older than the fall of the Berlin Wall, and only deified by right wing nut job pundits.
Whereas Thatcher is obviously still an open wound for you.

Andy I was in Mathew Street in Liverpool the other day. As you probably already know this is where the original Cavern Club was, where The Beatles played. Opposite to this is Eric’s the music venue where you played at least a couple of times. It closed down some time ago but has recently reopened again. There is a pub in the same street called The Grapes where The Beatles sank a few pints. For years it was kept to a traditional standard, stone floor, wooden benches and with pictures on the wall of the Beatles drinking in there. It was a good no frills boozer steeped in history. It’s been refurbished and the history put in a skip and now it could be any old pub in any old town. Do you have any memories of playing Liverpool, other than that grotty guest house you stayed in?

And. Any thoughts on Thatcher?

Liverpool was always a joy to play because of the warmth of the reception. No big memories, just lots of snippets jumbled together.
Manchester's JOHN THE POSTMAN always being in the audience and shouting his bloody name out at every nano second of silence.
The heaviest dub in the world played at ERIC'S club, who's walls seemed to sweat?!?!
Casson's guest house ,Lime St. way, being the most unsanitary establishment we ever stayed in.Those who lost the toss and had to sleep in the van...I envied them.
Enjoying the accent of all we spoke to.They all spoke like the BEATLES,we all spoke like the WURZELS.
So many bits of Liverpool lodged in there. Same way for Manchester too.

Really into Blame The Weather and The World Is Full Of Angry Young Men at the moment - the arrangements are almost like a jazz quartet, with drums, bass, piano, and guitar backing the main vocalist, with not too many overdubs.

Any thoughts as to how the delicious guitar sounds on these tracks were achieved?

The best and longest trance like, drum and bass heavy version of Beatown I have ever heard was at ERIC'S. Love that song. Cheers Andy.
