The secret is, of course, the nature of the song and not its acoustic glories. It doesn't have the feel of a country-style number. I was also a bit taken aback by the sound of pedal steel in this context, but it works like a charm. Here's to BJ Cole!

Just downloaded the album yesterday, and it's fantastic! Like others who've commented so far, Maryfaith Autumn and Just You are highlights for me as well. Gorgeous.

I listened to the album again the other day and it is such a pleasurable and distinct sound.
