So, had a problem updating my avatar from my computer and the attempt erased my previous one so I tried looking at the Pre-installed avatars... weird selection...
Would it be difficult to set up an APE avatar gallery in that section? Fill it up with XTC and APE artist album art, logos, whatever. It would be a nice alternative for the lazy. |

My avatar disappeared, and I can't reload it OR replace it with anything from my drive.
So no Walter White. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

(if its the hat one) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Same problem here, Truzz.... I've had it for months. I don't understand why trying to put an avatar up works for some and not for others. And for all you smart-asses out there, yes .... I'm doing it properly and it still doesn't work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

Yeah, the "Upload a new image from your computer" option hasn't worked for over a year.
Upload the picture you want from your drive to Photobucket, imageshack, flickr, or something and then use the "Enter a URL to an online avatar image" option to link to its location. You can also use this option to link to almost any picture you can find on the net and it will shrink it down and square it away into the forum's 90x90 size- you get a lot of distortion with that though. Best to find pictures that are already squarish. Say you want this here picture as your avatar: (IMG:http://s.dsimg.com/image/R-150-1964155-1276313913.jpeg) put the address of the picture into the "Enter a URL to an online avatar image" option. http://s.dsimg.com/image/R-150-1964155-1276313913.jpeg and voilĂ , it should shrink down and become your avatar. One really stupidly annoying problem with this though The name/ address for the picture can't be too long, it won't fit in the damn text box and cuts off Like this one: (There should be a picture here, it was earlier. The proper code is there but it's not appearing as I write this edited bit, but it might reappear again) (IMG:http://static.rateyourmusic.com/album_images/ca0bfc96257673269fcf40c6f6e108cf/2316272.jpg) This is a better resolution of the picture and I was going to use it as the example, but when I pasted the address into the box it cut off the very end of the URL address and, of course, wouldn't work. I use Picturetrail and there isn't an option for an avatar.
There is Direct Image Link Forum [IMG] Tag Clickable Thumb Thumb To Album I've tried every one of these endless times and still get the same error message. Any suggestions? None of these work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) |

None of these work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Using the forum tag, delete the [IMG] tags and any other tags they might try to give you and just copy the core address that is inside the tags (Starts with http:... ends in .jpg or jpeg or .gif or .png) and use that. Thanks Spaz.... figured it out. Finally (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Well then, carry on. Well then, carry on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This has been helpful! Let's see if I can get my avatar to come up now. Thanks for the info! Edit: yay, it worked. Now I feel like myself again. This post has been edited by ThatWave: Feb 9 2013, 06:10 AM |
